Coldnight started its story in 2008 within the roots of depressive black metal inspired by the cold winter nights, sadness, rain and depression from Bogotá, Columbia. The creator of this is Hypothermia who played all instruments in the project and did vocals.

After participating in a compilation of black metal entitled “Sadistic Killingspree” (2008), she recorded her CD “My Dying Soul.” Hypothermia has also collaborated on the album “The Dark, The Withered” with three female black metal vocalists. In 2010, Hypothermia was writing five new songs, as well as, recording more songs for two new splits scheduled for release in 2011. Hypothermia worked with Scott Johnson (of Astral Luminous) in 2011 doping songs for the splits, he handled bass and production.

Since then, the band has changed genres to ambient black metal for her scheduled 2012 release which will have Robert from Germany on drums.

  • Black Belle Music Reviews ()

  • Coldnight makes the sort of music to steer your depressed disenchanted teenager well away from or at least keep them and the razor blades separate. Dark and dismal with a nice blend of ambient soundscapes and dissonant trudging black metal minimalism this is not exactly what you would want to put on to perk up a bad day unless you happen to be extremely masochistic. Purposefully depressing and absurdly beautiful at the same time.

  • Coldnight: One Woman's Vision (Blood or Love - Interview)

  • When I decided to make Coldnight, a number of factors were in play such as the things that I was influenced by at the moment; I've always had artistic tastes inclined towards sadness, depression, loneliness and decay. That goes beyond expressing my feelings in my music, but also the elements that inspire me to describe events or places that inhabit darkness.
